Other Virginia SantaCon dates currently listed: Virginia Beach (Dec 12), Alexandria (Dec 19) and Norfolk (Dec 12). Check each event page for the date that fits your plans. Check driving time and parking ahead of time. If you are driving, look at parking and rideshare options near the start point.

Wear a Santa suit or another holiday costume; red, green and white outfits, elf looks and reindeer gear all fit the theme. Bring a jacket or a costume that works with layers, since the temperature can drop after sunset. Wear shoes you can stand in for hours. Test the outfit at home so you know it stays put.

It is a costumed holiday bar crawl, with Santa suits and holiday outfits as the common thread. It is commonly traced back to San Francisco in 1994. Not every city has an event each year, and Chesapeake is covered on this page for that reason. Dates announced so far elsewhere are all in December.

New events are published as event pages, so a Chesapeake page would appear if the city is added. Bookmarking the page helps you spot changes. Confirmed cities so far fall on December 5, 12 and 19. Until then, dated cities elsewhere on the list are the better bet for planning.

Anyone planning to drink should be 21 or older with a valid photo ID, and the event may apply its own limits. If your group includes anyone under 21, check the event page before you plan around them. Never drive after drinking; plan a ride before you go. Do not lend your ID to anyone, since it will not work for them.
