People dress as Santa or other holiday characters and visit bars together, which is the heart of SantaCon. The format began in San Francisco in the 1990s and has been copied widely. This page gives Norman searchers a place to check status. Dates announced so far elsewhere are all in December.

The theme is Santa and the holidays, so a red outfit with a Santa hat is the easy starting point. Bring a jacket or a costume that works with layers, since the temperature can drop after sunset. Skip costume pieces that are hard to carry or that block other guests. Test the outfit at home so you know it stays put.
